The Clans Update

Version 0.11.0b - Feb 01, 2026

This update features long-awaited clans features and upgrades to the gunz2.net website. Additionally, there have been multiple technical breakthroughs regarding custom content and content support.

0.11.0b Weapon balance adjustments

Clan system

  • Clan owners can log into gunz2.net to update the information about their clan. This includes title, description, and most importantly clan icon.
  • The game client has been updated to show clan icons where present (a feature that was never implemented in the Steam version!)
  • The website now hosts a 90-day rolling ranking that displays the top ranked, top PvE and PvP clans via the "Community" tab.

Player match histories

  • Players can log into gunz2.net to view their and other players' match histories.

Normal and ranked queues

  • Normal and Ranked queues have been re-enabled. Your account will start building ranked score based on your results, and your Ranked score will be visible via the trophies.
  • Auto queue has been added for Normal games, where you can queue with any team size. Larger teams will have a harder time getting games.
  • Player scores are now tracked even after leaving the match. Leaving and re-entering a practice game now keeps scores intact.

Weapons

New weapons

  • The high fire rate "Echo" SMG has been added, available for Ivan and Rena to equip. It accels at building Z-gauge at the cost of overall performance.
  • Wooden practice weapons have been implemented for Ivan, Rena and Elena to extend the time-to-kill. These can be used to either extend the duration of combat to reduce downtime and also requires players to execute their combos for longer prior to defeating their opponent. Additionally, they can be used as a voluntary handicap in practice games with a large skill delta between players.

Weapon sound effects

Custom sound effects are now possible, and have been implemented for the following weapons:

  • the Spirit Hunter sniper
  • the new Echo SMG
  • the new melee practice weapons for Ivan, Rena and Elena

Weapon Balance Adjustments

  • SMGs now have a 20% damage bonus on headshot, up from 0%
  • Shield damage has been increased by ~20%

Campaign

  • As the clan PvE ranking has been implemented, Hard mode scores have been scaled up to contribute 5x more score to the clan ranking. The higher risk provides higher clan reward.
  • New Optimite Supersoldier NPC added and can be found in late hard mode campaign missions
  • Hard mode Gustav fight is now even harder but more engaging

Characters

Rose

  • Rose can now midair slash like Ivan, Rena, Elena and Max. She can now juggle, too
  • Rose's aerial ground stab is now performed via Right-click to accommodate midair slash change
  • Rose's midair dash back slash attack now performs the same action as her ground dash back slash, instead of a midair dash forward slash

    Max

  • Attack while shielding (guard break) has been accelerated by 20% to reduce end-lag
  • All shields have had a ~20% damage buff to improve melee performance
  • Max's R now deals 60 damage (up from 40) with 50% piercing (up from 30%) to encourage usage in combos

Maps

  • Stairway
    • Collisions have been fixed, shooting through walls is no longer possible.
    • Map has received a lighting update
  • Hall
    • Collisions have been fixed, shooting through walls is no longer possible.
    • Map has received a lighting update

Optimite Gears

Optimite gear stats have been linearised for more consistent progression between upgrade levels. Additionally, the maximum strength of the gears has been adjusted to the following:

  • Gear of Fortitude +5:
    • No change (+4 HP)
    • @6 gears: +24 HP
  • Gear of Protection +5:
    • No change (+6 AP)
    • @6 gears: +36 AP
  • Gear of Aggression +5:
    • +1.6% → +2% Melee Crit Chance
    • @6 gears: +9.6% → +12%
  • Gear of Finesse +5:
    • -2.5% → -5% Weapon Swap Time
    • @6 gears: -15% → -30%
  • Gear of Dexterity +5:
    • -2.5% → -5% Reload time
    • @6 gears: -15% → -30%
  • Gear of Piercing +5:
    • +1.5% → +2.5% Melee Piercing
    • @6 gears: +9% → +15%
  • Gear of Perception +5:
    • No change (+3.2% Ranged Piercing)
    • @6 gears: +19.2%
  • Gear of Recovery +5:
    • +1.75 HP → +4 HP per player kill
    • @6 gears: +10.5 HP -> 24 HP (NPC 3.15 HP → 7.2 HP)

Misc

  • Guard lockout introduced in 0.10.0b to facilitate easier Double-Butterfly has been removed
  • Graphics settings menu reorganised, now titled "Display"
  • "Background FPS limit" option in the "Display" settings menu introduced, to reduce system resources when running in the background
  • FPS in the lobby (outside of games) is now limited to 60 regardless of framerate setting to avoid excessive unnecessary resource usage
  • Neon Nightmare Horse Mask texture and icons updated
  • Team elimination & Gladiator gamemode stability improved
  • Numerous server stability improvements
